South Tyrol has been and continues to be a pioneer in the field of renewable energy. For more than 100 years, local communities have been shaping their energy future and promoting a sustainable, common-good-oriented circular economy. With 79 biomass district heating plants, South Tyrol has the highest plant density in this area of heat supply in all of Italy, and more than 1,000 hydropower plants generate 89 percent of the electricity produced in the region.
The South Tyrolean Energy Summit offers a valuable platform for networking, making new contacts, and discussing future trends and strategic fields of action in the energy sector. What opportunities and challenges lie ahead? Where can new potential be found? And how do we envision shaping South Tyrol’s energy future? The first Energy Summit took place in October 2025 at the LUMEN Museum on Kronplatz – at an altitude of 2,275 meters above sea level. Due to its great success, SEV will offer this event format again.
