Building for the future

The energy landscape of South Tyrol is facing change: the “monolithic structure” preferred in the past has caused many problems, said Florian Zerzer, director of the department of regional development, environment and energy, in his welcome speech at the general meeting of the South Tyrol Energy Association at the Museion in Bozen.

Therefore work is going ahead on a “new scenario for South Tyrol” and “new rules” for the award of concessions for large hydropower plants. From confrontation to co-operation: at its general meeting the Association once again facilitated an open, fair discussion at the Museion with important decision-makers from South Tyrol energy suppliers. The South Tyrol Energy Association wishes to take a leading role in the reorientation of the local energy landscape, arguing for quality and innovation in order to make efficient use of the locational advantage developed during the past 100 years and more, while positioning itself as a regional service provider for small and medium-sized enterprises, co-operatives and municipal utilities.
