Assistance from South Tyrol

The EU’s REScoop 20-20-20 project (REScoop = Renewable Energy Sources COOPerative) has invited representatives of the South Tyrol Energy Association to a seminar on 9 April in Dublin, Ireland, on “Co-operatives and Renewable Energy”.

This continues a process of cross-border co-operation. The Association’s Managing Director, Rudi Rienzner, was nominated by REScoop 20-20-20 as a “mentor” in summer 2013. The EU-backed REScoop Federation brings together 12 companies, research institutes and associations, including the Italian research centre Avanzi, the Belgian energy co-operative EcoPower, the French co-operative Enercoop Nord Pas de Calais and the German co-operative Netzkauf EWS. REScoop 20-20-20 seeks to promote the co-operative use of renewable energy in Europe and facilitate exchanges of know-how. In future, therefore, 30 “mentors” appointed throughout Europe will support pilot projects and provide advice. The South Tyrol Energy Association has thus once again been recognised in the European context as a leading “pioneer” co-operative.
