An opportunity for South Tyrol

The energy transition in South Tyrol began long ago, a fact that is recognised beyond its borders. Franz Fischler, chairman of the European Alpbach Forum, will be talking as a guest speaker on “Future potential in the Alpine region: an opportunity for South Tyrol” at the general meeting of the South Tyrol Energy Association on 16 April.

On 7 February last Fischler and the European Alpbach Forum invited decision-makers from the fields of politics, business and science (including representatives of the South Tyrol Energy Association) to the “Energy Forum Alps” in Munich in order to develop a vision for sustainable energy supply in the Alpine countries. This debate will now continue in Bozen under the motto “South Tyrol Energy: Building for the Future”, with experts discussing the common development of the South Tyrolean energy landscape at the Association’s general meeting, to be held this year at the Museion.

The South Tyrol Energy Association tabled corresponding proposals (“The Second Way”) in 2013. It also commissioned the consulting firm of Pöyry to draw up a status analysis, as only those who know the facts and trends can effectively shape the future. There are numerous opportunities for South Tyrol – the question is how to use them.
