A good example

On Thursday the South Tyrol Energy Association (SEV) is making a presentation in the French city of Lille at a conference organised by the European REScoop.eu association. This initiative supports the co-operative use of renewable energies: SEV has become a pioneer when it comes to promoting co-operative “citizen’s energy”.

South Tyrol as a role model: the services offered by the South Tyrol Energy Association are recognised as “exemplary” and “impressive” at the European level.

The South Tyrol Energy Association was recognised by the organisers as an “exemplary” competence centre. The development of the Association, from a small provider of individual services to an all-round service provider with a 360°
package ranging from electricity billing operations to administrative tasks and low-cost machinery and equipment insurance, was rated as “impressive”. The work of SEV – and the Raiffeisen model in general – was also held up as “exemplary” for the development of energy co-operatives in other European countries.

The starting position is good, but must be adapted a changing market. Energy suppliers are becoming energy service providers, offering internet services, consulting services or care packages. Numerous companies thus need the external
assistance offered by the South Tyrol Energy Association as a region-wide service platform.
