Having a say in Europe

14.05.2014
International networks are essential, especially in the energy sector. The South Tyrol Energy Association has therefore joined the European Association of Independent Electricity and Gas Distribution Companies (GEODE). The association, together with the South Tyrol energy landscape were then presented at the GEODE general meeting in Brussels.

GEODE was founded in 1991 with the aim of representing the interests of independent electricity and gas suppliers in an increasingly European-oriented energy market. Like the South Tyrol Energy Association, GEODE believes that independent and decentralised distributors will continue to have an important function in a liberalised market and sees European market liberalisation – properly implemented – as an opportunity for the further development of the business opportunities of such companies.

Having a say in Europe is becoming ever more important. The Association’s Managing Director, Rudi Rienzner, is already a
vice-president of GEODE. The South Tyrol Energy Association has for years been participating in decision-making at European level and is also a member of the European Association of Medium-Sized Energy Companies (EVME), which was founded in 2008.
